This wine showed beautifully, with a typical nose of Sangiovese and Cabernet. It is particularly well made with excellent fruit delineation of richer red fruit characteristics subtle oak nuances and persistent tannins. While this is drinking wonderfully today all elements point to a long life ahead.
This amazing Chasselas shows off a complexity of aromas built upon the fragrance imprint of flint, its pedigree and its nobility. Its opulence, its velvety flavors, its honeyed and flattering notes come alive in the mouth and stretch out into a long finale.
This is a pure, clean, fresh and dry white made from Chenin Blanc grapes. Showing lovely notes of citrus fruit with a hint of peach, this Vouvray is truly delicious.
With aromas of blackberry, flowers and wild mushroom, this full to medium-bodied two vineyard Barolo is drinking perfectly, with velvety tannins and a medium finish.
A wonderful palate of dark plums, black cherry, and spice but with a great deal more structure than one would expect. Some critics were a bit dubious at the elevation of Beaumes-de-Venise to full cru status but doubters should get hold of a case or two this wine . . . it is a real stunner.
The Bricco Manzoni appeared in 1976 and was among the first blends produced in the Langhe with Nebbiolo and Barbera. Intense red to garnet color. Roses and almond flowers. The playful Barbera (20%) sends a bolt of fresh acidity through the firm, round palate that distinctly shows Nebbiolo (80%). Well balanced, with well resolved tannins.
This Valpolicella comes from the single vineyard known as Ca del Merlo, named for the indigenous Merlo bird. As with all Quintarelli wines the delineation and depth of flavors put this complex dry wine on a level above any other Valpolicella and most Amarone.
This ethereal Bourgogne is the definition of elegance. Medium-bodied and suave, its seductive personality bastes the taster’s mouth with subtle, well-ripened red fruits; an exceedingly charming wine.
Billecart-Salmon is one of my favorite Champagne houses, and their non-vintage Rose is a consistent winner. A delicate pink color is accompanied by gorgeous sweet cherry, strawberry, and mineral-like scents, assertive medium-bodied flavors, a delicate, crisp personality, and surprising depth as well as persistence. A beautiful berry character in the finish adds to this impeccable rose captivating style. Robert Parker
Each vintage of this Spanish blend seams better than the last. Rich ripe fruit on the attack with ample stucture and a well balanced finsh mel this an exceptional value.
Big and juicy, with loads of ripe fruit and toasted coconut on the nose. Full-bodied and oozing with fruit and cocoa. Goes on for minutes. Wild. 92points Wine Spectator
