This wine showed beautifully, with a typical nose of Sangiovese and Cabernet. It is particularly well made with excellent fruit delineation of richer red fruit characteristics subtle oak nuances and persistent tannins. While this is drinking wonderfully today all elements point to a long life ahead.
This is totally different with big Cabernet Sauvignon fruit up front, with blueberry, black pepper and brairy notes. Decidedly more viscous in the mouth, the tannins are more assertive but remain velvety on the palate. This is a now or later kind of wine; it's hard to resist now but it will last for decades.
If the blend in this vintage includes grapes other than Sangiovese it certainly isn't evident on the nose. This is a glorious explosion of Sangiovese cherry with classic notes of leather, truffle, tobacco and spice. Simply put one of the best we've ever tasted.
