We wish there were more of these, but the sad truth about the wines we choose is that they generally come from small wineries with limited production. That means that within a given vintage, precious few of the already miniscule number of cases even make it to our market.
This is one last chance to snap up the last few remaining goodies.
A firm young red, with spicy currant and polished oak character. Full-bodied, with a superclean palate and a long, minerally finish. Loads of dried fruit. Only 500 cases made.
One of Australia's flagship wines, the 2003 Shiraz Hanisch is produced from a warmer vineyard planted in sandy/gravelly/loamy soils. Aged in 30% new French oak, 40% new American oak, and the rest old American wood, it is a full-bodied, classic South Australian Shiraz. It boasts an inky/purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of crushed rocks, blueberries, blackberries, camphor, acacia flowers, pepper, spice, and toasty oak. Dense, chewy, full-bodied, and muscular as well as incredibly pure and elegant for a wine of such size and majesty, it should be approachable in 1-2 years, and age effortlessly for two decades. Very impressive
Robert Parker 95pts This is the most intense, muscular, and biggest Monbousquet made to date, and that is saying something considering the 1998 and 1999! So be prepared, it is remarkable wine.
Luc Massy is the undisputed king of Chasselas. The grape that is. He crafts the this traditional Raclette wine into something truly special. Likened to Grand Cru white Burgundy this is both elegant and rich with good complemity and lingering finish.
A formidable Cabernet Sauvignon-based red coming from the area of Fidenzio in Tuscany. Delicate aromas of cassis, anise seed and lavender. A fresh red with clean, elegant, honest aromas.
