The Tannat grape is originally from the Southwest of France where it produces rather rustic wines This wine is made in the "Ripasso" style, where grapes are re-passed over the pressed skins for added intensity and complexity. Here, the result is a rich, robust red with bright blueberry and black plum, and an earthy finish of mushrooms and dry twigs.

Some of the vines that are used to make this 100% Tannat Madiran are more than a hundred-years-old. Maturing on the lees in 100% new barrels for 14 to 16 months. The Tannat has a direct, fine, intelligent structure. The aromas are delicate with subtle hints of wood, cigar and mocha.
